1920s Hen Do

My little sister’s hen weekend was held in a country house in Somerset with a 1920s murMissLFireVistader mystery themed night on the Saturday.

All searches for fancy dress for that era were returning the drop waist sequin or flapper style that just don’t suit my body shape at all, so I decided to base my outfit around a pair of Miss L Fire 1920s Vista shoes I already owned.

These gorgeous shoes are an art deco style and truly eye catching –  often attracting StarCrossedBeautyAmazoncomments when worn out and about (mostly “my nan had a pair like that!!”). I have the black and gold pair so that set the colour theme for the rest of the outfit. A 1920s vintage style black and gold headband was found on Amazon from Starcrossed Beauty, which matched the shoes perfectly.

LindyBopIslaFishtailLindyBopStoleTo complete the outfit was the classic black Isla fishtail dress and gold stole from Lindy Bop.

Although these last 2 items are more 1950s style than 1920s, they are so classic and timeless that they went really well with the rest of the outfit. The best part of all was that they could both be worn again and again and again (and have been).  Much better than buying a fancy dress costume that would only be worn once!

It was a fantastic night and the outfit was a true success. I felt like I  really did belong in the country manor house we were staying in!
